2023 Bargaining Updates

Bargaining is currently underway. You can see the current state of proposals in their entirety here.

Overview of bargaining process

All classified employees at PCC (full-time and part-time, temporary and permanent, dues-paying and not, etc) are part of the same bargaining unit. Our union’s bargaining team represents almost 700 employees and enters into a formal negotiation process with PCC Administration to set the terms and conditions of our work, including pay and benefits.

The last few contracts have been negotiated with a four-year term on language. Our last full contract negotiation was for 2019-2023 and if the same pattern follows, we will be negotiating a 2024-2028 contract

In the past, the contract has been reopened for wages and benefits every two years, called a “re-opener.” This is what happened in 2021, when HR/Administration tried to take away our COLAs (Cost of Living Increase). Our union fought hard and prevented this, preserving the increase to your paychecks that we originally negotiated for in the 2019-2023 contract.

United we bargain, divided we beg. Collective bargaining provides PCCFCE members with a powerful, shared voice to demand fair wages, benefits, and working conditions at PCC, and protection to do so without fear of retaliation.

What topics can our union bargain over?

The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) is the federal agency charged with enforcing labor law in the U.S. The NLRB divides bargaining subjects into three categories:
