Read this word-for-word to your supervisor:

“If this discussion could in any way lead to my being disciplined or terminated, or affect my personal working conditions, I respectfully request that my union representative, officer or steward be present at this meeting. Without representation present, then… I choose not to participate in this discussion.”


ARE YOU HAVING PROBLEMS AT WORK?

Here’s how you can protect yourself:

  1. Document what’s been happening. Make a written record of all the events with dates, times, and people present.
  2. Try to address the problems by having a calm, professional conversation with your manager. Our union can give you support if you need it.
  3. Keep showing up. Unless your working conditions are unsafe, don’t make any changes to your work schedule. Arrive on time and don’t leave early without authorization.
  4. Read your contract and try to identify:
    • Specific article/s of the contract (or rights or laws) that are being violated
    • Factual details of the violation
    • Requested remedy
